This is The Next Evening — the next chapter of Afterlight, and a small taste of the box: one pre-loved book, wrapped in kraft paper and twine with its title hidden, hand-chosen by me from the genre you love.

🎭 How It Works

Choose your genre above — mystery & thriller, romance, literary fiction, historical fiction, fantasy & sci-fi, or surprise me. Then I'll pick a pre-loved book in that genre and wrap it so the cover stays secret. Before you unwrap it, all you'll know is the genre you chose — the rest is the surprise.

Every Next Evening book is previously loved — carefully inspected, and chosen because its story deserves another reader.

📖 The Book Itself

Your book may be a paperback or a hardcover — whichever life it has lived. Every one is hand-checked before it wraps: clean, readable pages, no torn or missing pages, no heavy writing or highlighting. A spine that shows it's been loved is welcome here; a book that's falling apart is not.

Want to steer me? Tell me the authors and stories you love — and anything you'd rather not read — in the notes above, and I'll match accordingly. Already own a shelf full? Name what's on it, and I'll steer clear of your duplicates. Sending it as a gift? Add your message and I'll hand-write the gift note in. Because your book is picked by hand, for you, all sales are final — no refunds or returns. That's why the notes above matter: the more you tell me, the better the match.

📦 When It Ships

Your book is hand-prepared and ships within 3–5 days, sent free via USPS Media Mail — the post office's own rate for books. Media Mail travels at its own pace: typically 2–8 business days in transit, tracking included. For a birthday or holiday, ordering about two weeks ahead is a safe bet.

When the final page is done, there's one last page: The Afterword card. Three questions to sit with on the front; the Story Map steps on the back. Add your chapter, then pass the book along — and watch where it travels.
